HR Manager | Control Associates | Allendale, NJ - Start date January 2027
Control Associates is growing - and so is our HR team. We're looking for an experienced HR Manager to join our Allendale, NJ office and work closely with our Director of Human Resources to serve as the go-to resource for our 200+ employees across all things HR. As the Director moves into a more strategic focus, this role is central to keeping our HR function running smoothly and our employees well supported day to day.
This is a hands-on, high-impact role for someone who knows HR inside and out and is ready to contribute from day one. You'll be the face of HR for our employees - handling everything from benefits administration and employee relations to compliance and talent acquisition support. What You'll Do
- Manage the full employee lifecycle - onboarding, benefits administration, employee relations, and offboarding
- Serve as the primary HR contact for employees at our Allendale and Bloomingdale, NJ locations (occasional travel between sites required)
- Lead benefits administration including our self-funded medical plan, open enrollment, and new hire benefits orientation
- Handle employee relations matters including investigations and disciplinary situations with sound, independent judgment
- Manage leave of absence administration (FMLA, STD, LTD) and workers' compensation claims
- Own the I-9 compliance process including periodic audits
- Support talent acquisition through background checks, drug screenings, and pre-adverse action processes
- Manage drug and alcohol compliance programs including DISA and internal quarterly random programs
- Oversee our employee recognition program and contribute to company events and culture initiatives
- Partner with Payroll on the Fixed and Variable Vehicle (MOTUS) program and expense policy compliance
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws across all locations
What You Bring
- 5-7 years of progressive HR Generalist experience with the ability to work independently in ambiguous or sensitive situations
- Demonstrated experience in benefits administration including medical, dental, life, STD/LTD, and Section 125 benefits; experience with self-funded medical plans is a strong plus
- Solid knowledge of federal and state labor laws; multi-state experience is a plus
- Experience conducting employee investigations and counseling managers on performance issues
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or equivalent
- SHRM-CP or PHR certification is a plus
- Proficiency with UKG Ready or UKG Pro is preferred
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus given our Puerto Rico operations
